SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an internal combustion engine, in particular to a drive vehicle engine equipped with engine braking device (19, 65). The engine braking device includes throttling element (19) allocated to an exhaust tract, in particular a throttle valve for creating back-up for exhaust gas released by a combustion chamber, and a measuring device that measures the exhaust gas pressure on measurement site (23) in the exhaust tract upstream relatively to throttling element (19) along the exhaust gas stream. Invention provides for the presence of at least one additional measuring device that measures, in particular for the implementation of a back-up system of measurement of the exhaust gas pressure, the exhaust gas pressure on measurement site (23) and transmits measuring signals supplied by measuring devices to a control unit, in particular a control unit of throttle valve (19).
EFFECT: prevention of unwanted accelerations of the internal combustion engine equipped with the engine braking device.
