SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to methods for producing cast billets from antifriction tin-lead bronzes, intended for diffusion welding with steel to create friction units of medium load and sliding speeds. The method of manufacturing cast billets from antifriction bronze includes melting and continuous casting of the billet. The melt is preliminarily degassed by blowing with argon at a temperature of 1100-1200°C for 10-20 minutes through a graphite lance immersed on the bottom of the melting crucible, after which the lance is removed, and the melt is kept in the crucible for 10 minutes. Slag is removed from the surface of the melt and a water-cooled crystallizer with a hole diameter of 10-50 mm is installed, immersed by the bottom part to a depth of 50-200 mm from the metal surface, through which the melt is pulled upward in the form of a rod according to the step+pause mode, in which each step occurs stretching by 1-10 mm, with a pause between steps of 0.3-2 seconds.

EFFECT: method allows to obtain workpieces of small diameter 10-50 mm with a homogeneous structure, close in size to those required for diffusion welding with steel.
