FIELD: tobacco industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol generating system. The aerosol generating system contains an assembled cartridge and an aerosol generating device. The assembled cartridge contains an outer case at least partially limiting a mouthpiece having a mouthpiece air outlet. The assembled cartridge additionally contains a cartridge at least partially located inside the outer case of the assembled cartridge and having an upstream end and a downstream end. The cartridge contains the first and the second compartments, each of which has an air inlet and an air outlet. The assembled cartridge contains a mixing chamber passing between the downstream end of the cartridge and the mouthpiece air outlet, and a ventilation air inlet. The ventilation air inlet passes through the outer case of the assembled cartridge, and it is located downstream from the cartridge, while the ventilation air inlet provides a fluid communication between the outer part of the aerosol generating system and the mixing chamber. The aerosol generating device contains an internal device case that restricts a device cavity to accommodate the upstream end of the cartridge, and an electric heater to heat the cartridge. The aerosol generating device additionally contains a power supply unit, a controller capable of controlling the supply of power from the power supply unit to the electric heater, and the outer device case. When the upstream end of the cartridge is placed inside the device cavity, at least the first part of the downstream edge of the outer device case is adjacent to at least the first part of the upstream edge of the outer case of the assembled cartridge in such a way that the outer case of the assembled cartridge and the outer device case form the outer case of the system. At least part of the inner device case is placed between the cartridge and the outer case of the assembled cartridge, when a receiving end of the cartridge is placed in the device cavity.

EFFECT: correct alignment of the cartridge and the aerosol generating device is ensured, as well as their reliable connection.
