FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: light therapy system for the provision of controlled melanopic light exposure contains a lighting unit to create an output light having controlled illumination and color temperature. Based on the accepted target melanopic light exposure, a system controller builds a suitable control graph for controlling levels of lighting unit parameters over time so that, in general, the specified target melanopic light exposure is provided during a given period of therapy. When building the control graph, the relative melanopic sensitivity of people to light of different color temperatures is taken into account. The color temperature of the output light is appropriately controlled so that, after color correction, the light exposure corresponds to the entered target exposure.

EFFECT: obtaining a light therapy system.
