SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a refiner and to a method for processing fibres from a mixture of fibre-containing substances. The refiner comprises at least one outlet element for passage of a mixture of fibre-containing substances, including an outlet and at least one first refining surface located around the outlet in a circumference, as well as at least one supply apparatus for positioning the outlet element. Also, a mobile processing body with a second refining surface is located opposite at least one outlet element for processing the mixture of fibre-containing substances. At least the first refining surface therein has at least one or more than two rows of blades when the mixture of fibre-containing substances passes through the outlet element between the first refining surface of the outlet element and the separating surface of the second refining surface of the mobile processing body whereon the mixture of substances is applied. One row of blades of the first refining surface has a closed refining edge.

EFFECT: invention provides a possibility of minimising the total consumption of energy and especially the idling power during operation of the apparatus and allows for processing of substances of different densities, while significantly shortening the duration and reducing the cost of technical maintenance work.
