FIELD: cutting.
SUBSTANCE: adapter for a turning cutter includes opposing first and second side surfaces and a peripheral surface passing between said side surfaces, a cutting part with a part retaining the cutting insert, and a clamping part extending from the cutting part. The clamping part includes a protrusion extending transversely from the first side surface. The protrusion includes a main thrust surface and a first and a second distanced clamping holes of the adapter, open to the second side surface and also to the main thrust surface. The adapter for a turning cutter has a first, a second and a third thrust surfaces located between the upper and lower surfaces in the side view perpendicular to one of the side surfaces.
EFFECT: security of attachment of the adapter is increased.
