FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrically controlled aerosol-generating system (1). The system comprises a main unit (3) and a tubular aerosol-generating article (2). The main unit comprises a heating part (10) on the outer surface of the main unit (3). The heating part (10) comprises one or more electric heaters (11). The tubular aerosol-generating article (2) comprises a tubular aerosol-forming substrate (4) and an inner passage (5). The inner passage (5) of the tubular aerosol-generating article (2) is adapted to accept the heating part (10) of the main unit (3). One or more electric heaters (11) of the main unit (3) are therein located so as to heat the tubular aerosol-forming substrate (4) when the tubular aerosol-generating article (2) is accepted on the heating part (10) of the main unit (3).

EFFECT: reduction in the length of the article, possibility of mixing ambient air and vapour from the heated aerosol-forming substrate, thereby facilitating the formation of an aerosol and cooling of the vapour drawn into one or more air passages from the heated aerosol-forming substrate.
