SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrically controlled system which generates aerosol. Electrically controlled aerosol-generating system (401) comprises main unit (403) and aerosol generating tubular article (402). Main unit comprises heating part (410) located on outer surface of main unit (403). Heating part (410) comprises one or more electric heaters. Tubular article (402) generating an aerosol comprises a tubular aerosol-forming substrate and an inner passageway. Inner passage is configured to receive heating unit (410) of the main unit. One or more electric heaters of heating unit (410) of the main unit are arranged to heat the aerosol-forming tubular substrate, when tubular aerosol-generating article (402) is received to heating unit (410) of main unit (403). Aerosol generating system (401) further comprises means (421, 422) for determining that tubular aerosol-generating article (402), is received on heating unit (410) of main unit (403).

EFFECT: improved heat transfer between electric heaters and an aerosol-generating article, prevention of power supply to electric heaters, when the aerosol-generating article is not completely received by the main unit, temperature control, to prevent damage or spoilage of different in composition substrates, possibility of using other substrates from other aerosol-generating systems without damages, inappropriate generation temperatures, monitoring use of unauthorized substrates.
