METHOD AND IMAGING SYSTEM AT HIGH AND LOW ILLUMINATION LEVELS Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC H04N5/343

Abstract RU 2765429 C2

FIELD: imaging.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to imaging, and in particular to low light imaging. The effect is achieved by the fact that the visualization system contains a device for obtaining frames in accordance with the receiving parameters and a block for processing the received frames. The method comprises the steps of: A) choosing the rendering method among the classical rendering mode, the rendering mode with natural photon counting and the rendering mode with forced photon counting and, depending on the selected rendering mode, determining the corresponding frame acquisition parameters by the processing unit, B) receiving at least one frame by a frame acquiring device configured with the above acquisition parameters and transmitting the obtained frames to an image acquisition processing unit, the resulting image being the result of the following sub-steps if the selected imaging mode is a natural photon counting imaging mode or visualization with forced photon counting: binary quantization of received frames and summation of binarized frames to obtain an image, C) assessing the quality of the resulting image, D) D1) depending on the quality of the resulting image, defining a new imaging mode, selectable among the classical imaging mode, imaging mode with natural photon counting and imaging mode with forced photon counting, D2) repeating steps A, B, C and D with a new mode render selected as the render mode.

EFFECT: providing a method and system for imaging with a high dynamic range, adapted to unforeseen lighting conditions and having the ability to vary the flux from a scene from strong to weak.
