FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of equipment for coal mining and, in particular, to a device and a method for determining the angle of the rocker arm of a cutting machine based on fiber-optic measurements. Proposed device for determining the angle of a rocker arm of a cutting machine based on fiber-optic measurements comprises an optical system and a mechanical system. Optical system has a broadband light source, a polarizer, a first collimating lens, a plate rotating in a gradient medium, a second collimating lens, a polarizing beam splitter and a data processing module. Mechanical system comprises a connecting base, a first connecting rod, a second connecting rod, a slider, a bracket and a sensor housing. Broadband light source is connected to the polarizer through a single-mode optical fiber, and the polarizer is connected to the collimating lens through a rotating high-birefringence photonic crystal fiber (Hi-Bi PCF). First collimating lens and the second collimating lens have central axes on the same line, and both of them are attached to the slider, and the slider is placed on the bracket and is made with possibility of sliding on the bracket fixed inside the sensor housing. Plate rotating in the gradient medium is fixed in the sensor housing and is located between the first and second collimating lenses; wherein the second collimator lens is connected to the polarizing beam splitter through the rotating Hi-Bi PCF; and the polarization beam splitter is connected to the data processing module through a single-mode optical fiber. One end of the first connecting rod is connected to the connecting base by means of a hinge, at that the first connecting rod and the connecting base are made with possibility of rotation relative to each other by means of the hinge. Other end of the first connecting rod is connected to the second connecting rod by means of a hinge, wherein the first connecting rod and the second connecting rod are rotatable relative to each other by means of a hinge; and the other end of the second connecting rod is rigidly connected to the slider, wherein the second connecting rod is parallel to the length of the bracket. During operation of the cutting machine, the rocker arm converts information on the angle of rotation into a linear displacement related to the gradient refraction index, by using the mechanism of connecting rods, as well as changing the position on the plate rotating in the gradient medium, through which the linearly polarized light generated by the optical system passes.

EFFECT: high reliability of counteracting electromagnetic interference, high accuracy and protection against explosion effect.
