FIELD: tobacco industry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the manufacture of rod-shaped products for the tobacco industry. A method for manufacturing rod-shaped products for the tobacco industry is proposed, while rod-shaped products contain longitudinal inserts located in filling material, while the method includes: feeding a continuous, moving tape-shaped wrapper; feeding a continuous billet of filling material to the moving wrapper; feeding insertion material in the form of a tape having weakened sections into the continuous billet of filling material; wrapping the wrapper around the continuous billet of filling material with insert material to form a continuous rod; cutting a moving continuous rod with a cutting head in a cross-sectional plane intersecting the weakened section in the tape of insert material to form separate rod-shaped products ending at ends; comparing ends of the insert in rod-shaped products with a predefined model to obtain a measure of similarity; and implementing the operation of adjusting the cutting head relatively to the movement of the continuous rod in response to the measured similarity to obtain the greatest similarity between ends of the insert in the rod-shaped product.

EFFECT: method and device for manufacturing rod-shaped products disclosed in the present application provide a reduction in the energy consumption of the cutting head made with the possibility of cutting a continuous rod; in addition, they provide an increase in the quality of manufactured rods.
