FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to oncology and clinical biochemistry, and can be used for specifying laboratory diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) for cases of additional tissue in the kidney based on the results of radiological diagnostic techniques. KIM-1 is determined as follows: in the average portion of morning urine of the subjects, the ratio of KIM-1 and creatinine is determined. If the level of KIM-1/Cre exceeds 3.4 ng/mg of creatinine, then RCC is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides the possibility of specifying the RCC diagnosis in the subjects with suspected RCC by determining the KIM-1/Cre ratio in urine, which can be measured using available methods of enzyme immunoassay and biochemical analysis.
