FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a group of inventions: an additive concentrate composition for producing a water-curable polyolefin composition, a water-curable polyolefin composition for use as a shell component of a coated conductor, a method for manufacturing a water-curable polyolefin composition, a water-cured polyolefin composition, a produced product, a coated conductor, and a method for electricity transmission. The additive concentrate composition contains a semicrystalline polyolefin polymer-carrier in the amount from 50 to 99 wt.% and a condensation acidic catalyst in the amount from 1 to 50 wt.%. Crystallinity of the semicrystalline polyolefin polymer-carrier is from 50 to less than 100 wt.%. The semicrystalline polyolefin polymer-carrier consists of a high-density semicrystalline polyethylene component and does not contain any polymer-carrier other than semicrystalline polyolefin polymer-carrier. The water-curable polyolefin composition for use as a shell component of a coated conductor contains the additive concentrate composition and polyolefin prepolymer functionalized with a hydrolysable silyl group. In polyolefin prepolymer functionalized with the hydrolysable silyl group: (i) each hydrolysable silyl group is independently a monovalent group of the formula: (R2)m(R3)3-mSi-(C2-C6)alkenyl; (ii) polyolefin is polyethylene-based polymer, based on poly(ethylene-co-(C3-C40)alpha-olefin) or a combination thereof; or (iii) both options – (i) and (ii). The method for manufacturing a water-curable polyolefin composition includes mixing of polyolefin prepolymer functionalized with a hydrolysable silyl group and a separated solid form of the additive concentrate composition to obtain a mixture; melting or extrusion of the mixture. Next, this water-cured polyolefin composition is cured with water. The coated conductor contains a conductive core and a polymer layer partially surrounding the conductive core. Part of the polymer layer contains the water-cured polyolefin composition. The method for electricity transmission includes supply of the voltage to the conductive core of the coated conductor to generate an electricity flow through the conductive core.

EFFECT: providing the inhibition or prevention of water absorption and untimely curing of water-curable polyolefin compositions and/or decomposition of water-sensitive additives.
