SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing elements of a gas turbine engine in icing conditions. A method for simulating icing on a research object, which consists in the fact that a fine water aerosol is sprayed onto the research object (14). As a spraying device, nozzles (1) located on a rod (2) of an industrial robot (3) are used. A preliminary scan of the surface of the research object is carried out without an ice layer. After a predetermined number of spraying cycles, the ice layer is measured. Compare the thickness of the created ice layer with the specified one. If the thickness is equal or not significantly different from the specified, then it is assumed that the required thickness of the ice layer is provided and new spraying cycles are not required. In case the obtained ice thickness is less than the specified one, the spraying cycles are continued until the target values ​​are reached. If the thickness of the ice layer has exceeded the specified thickness, the spraying cycles are stopped and the entire ice layer is removed, after which the spray cycles are restarted.
