FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing diamond crystals from an alkali-earth carbonate melt at high pressure and temperature, involving reduction of carbon in the melt. Method is characterized by that carbon reduction is carried out by electrochemical method in molten alkali-earth carbonate at pressure not lower than 7.5 GPa and a temperature of not lower than 1,500 °C, creating in the high-pressure and high-temperature cell a potential difference of electric current from 0.4 V to 1 V using two or more alternating electrodes made of platinum group metals or their alloys, wherein for preparation of melt to alkali-earth carbonate is added up to 30 wt.% silicate or aluminosilicate or water-containing silicate or aluminosilicate.
EFFECT: obtaining diamond crystals doped with nitrogen and not containing defect-impurity centers of transition metals.
