FIELD: nanotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a nanoparticle used as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging. Nanoparticle contains: metal-containing particle containing iron oxide; and a ligand which is bonded to a metal atom on the surface of the metal-containing particle and is represented by formula (3), where m is integer from 1 to 4, Me is methyl and the dashed line is a coordination bond with a metal atom on the surface of a metal-containing particle. Also disclosed is a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging, (3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)(dimethyl)(3-sulphonate propyl)ammonium and its use for producing a nanoparticle.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain (i) a novel nanoparticle, (ii) a magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent containing it, in particular, a positive contrast agent having good relaxation, and (iii) a novel ligand compound used to produce a nanoparticle.
