FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: use in electrical engineering for protection of power transmission lines against remote short circuit. Protection device includes a switching element at the beginning of the power transmission line and a switching element performing the functions of a protective switching device. Protective switching device is installed in the break of the power transmission line at the boundary of sensitivity of the protective switching device installed at the beginning of the line. Device comprises current sensor, voltage sensor connected before and after protective switching device, switchboard door position sensor. Above sensors are connected to the information processing unit. Data transmission device is designed to transmit information received from the data processing unit.

EFFECT: reduction of time of interruptions in power supply to consumers in case of emergency outages and in case of planned maintenance of power transmission line and increase of observability of electric network and its controllability.
