FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a reactor for activating carbon material placed in a furnace and consisting of a housing with a flange cover located on top of the housing, and having branch pipes for inert gas inlet and outlet of gaseous reaction products. Inside the reactor housing there is a stack of several containers arranged one above the other, where activated material and potassium hydroxide are loaded as an activating reagent. Inert gas is fed through a branch pipe in the upper part of the reactor; at the inlet of the inert gas into the reaction zone, a gas flow splitter disk in the form of a disk with installed arched turbulence blades is attached to the branch pipe. Discharge of gaseous products is carried out through a branch pipe located on the conical bottom of the housing, which separates the reaction zone of the reactor from the located below the neutralization chamber of potassium metal, into which water vapour is introduced via a tangential branch pipe, wherein waste gases and drops of formed potassium hydroxide are removed from potassium vapour neutralization chamber via branch pipe arranged in chamber conical bottom.
EFFECT: simple reactor, possibility of its scaling, higher safety and efficiency, as well as obtaining activated carbon material with high specific surface area and large specific volume of micro- and mesopores.
