FIELD: glass.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the manufacture of glass fibre used in electronics, communication, nuclear power engineering, aviation, cosmonautics, weaponry, naval and civil vessels, genetic engineering. Composition for manufacturing high-modulus basalt-based glass fibre comprises, wt.%: 53.0 to 60.0 SiO2; 24.5 to 28.0 Al2O3; 8.0 to 15.0 MgO; 1.5 to 5.5 Fe2O3; 2.0 to 4.0 TiO2; 0<CaO≤5.0; 0<Na2O≤1.5; 0<K2O≤0.5, and FeO/Fe2O3≤0.6. MgO+Al2O3 is therein ≥33 wt.%.

EFFECT: high-modulus glass produced from said composition exhibits improved refining effect and impact resistance, an elastic modulus of 93 to 95 GPa, as well as a reduced content of bubbles at elevated temperature and high uniformity.
