FIELD: glass fibre composition.

SUBSTANCE: present invention provides a glass fibre composition suitable for large-scale production of high modulus glass fibre, as well as glass fibre and a composite material based on it. The composition of high modulus glass fibre contains the following components in amounts expressed as a percentage by weight: 43-58 SiO2, 15,5-23 Al2O3, 8-18 MgO, 25 or more Al2O3+MgO, 0.1-7.5 CaO, 7.1-22 Y2O3, 16,5 or more MgO+Y2O3, 0.01-5 TiO2, 0.01-1,5 Fe2O3, 0.01-2 Na2O, 0-1.5 K2O, 0-0.9 Li2O, 0-4 SrO and 0-5 La2O3+CeO2, where С3=Y2O3/CaO is 1.9 or more.

EFFECT: composition significantly increases the elastic modulus of the glass fibre, significantly reduces the melt glass clearing temperature, and improves the melt glass clearing performance; it also improves the cooling characteristics of the fibreglass and reduces the crystallization rate.
