FIELD: automotive industry.
SUBSTANCE: mandrel emergency braking device of a motor vehicle belongs to the field of transport engineering. The device contains a mandrel energy-absorbing module mounted on the frame of the vehicle, consisting of a tubular energy-absorbing working element and a mandrel located in it with a wedge attached to it by means of a steel cable, which in its initial state is located in a pneumatic block. When the device is activated, the wedge is inserted into the roadbed and, after the cable is tensioned, fixes the position of the mandrel relative to the roadbed. The movement of a motor vehicle with a tubular working element with a fixed mandrel causes the movement of the mandrel in the tubular working element, at which its transverse stretching (mandrel) occurs. The kinetic energy of the vehicle is spent on the deformation operation during transverse stretching (mandrel) of the tubular working element, and is also dissipated as heat during plastic deformation of the material of the tubular element and friction of the mandrel pair.
EFFECT: organization of an optimal process of emergency braking of a vehicle, during which inertial forces do not lead to unacceptable shock loads and operating overloads, which increases the safety of people and cargo in the vehicle, as well as in the simplicity and manufacturability of the design.
