FIELD: imaging technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for encoding images. The block separation information is encoded in relation to the target block. The image is recursively divided into rectangles of a given size based on the block separation information to generate the target block. Moreover, the block separation stage includes a quaternary separation stage, in which the target block obtained by recursive separation is divided in half in both horizontal and vertical directions to generate four blocks. The target block obtained by recursive division is divided into two or three in the horizontal or vertical direction to generate two or three blocks. The separation of the target block in the horizontal direction is prohibited and is acceptable in the vertical direction, when the separation of the target block in the horizontal direction leads to the finding of the target block beyond the right side of the image border, and the separation of the target block in the vertical direction is prohibited and is acceptable in the horizontal direction, when the separation of the target block in the vertical direction leads to the finding of the target block beyond the lower side of the image border.
EFFECT: increase the efficiency of image encoding.
