FIELD: treatment of water.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an application of a reagent containing a classified screening of crushed steel slag of converter production of a 0.3 to 2.5 mm fraction or a 2.5 to 5 mm fraction, wherein said screening contains 92 to 99.9 wt.% of a mixture of compounds: portlandite CaO∙H 2O, magnetite Fe3O4, brucite Mg(OH)2, calcite CaCO3, sperrite 2Ca2SiO4·CaCO3, calcium aluminate 5CaO·3Al2O3, spinel MgAl2O4, periclase MgO, calcium silicate Ca2SiO4, and 0.1 to 8 wt.% of at least one element selected from the group S, Mn, Cr, Zn, Ti, V, for purifying industrial waste water from cations of heavy metals selected from the group: Cu, Fe, Pb, Mn, As.

EFFECT: creation of a reagent suitable for purifying industrial waste water.
