SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in biomedicine and nanomedicine, in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Method of producing hematite particles involves mixing ferrihydrite particles with a solution of at least one acid and incubating the obtained mixture at a temperature not higher than +4 °C. Concentration of acid after mixing with ferrihydrite particles is not less than 50 % of concentration of concentrated acid. Also disclosed is a version of producing hematite particles.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain hematite nanoparticles of controlled size using readily available reagents.
