FIELD: ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. For early diagnosis of corneal graft rejection after penetrating keratoplasty, laser confocal microscopy of the cornea is performed. On a digital image of the central zone of the cornea, the density of dendritic cells with 2-3 degrees of activity in the layers of the basal epithelium and Bowman's membrane is determined. When their density is more than 400 cells/mm2, a rejection reaction is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of timely treatment of incipient rejection of a keratograft with preservation of its function, by evaluating the cells responsible for the local immune response.
