FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: device includes a magnetic field generator, the first magnetic field sensor designed to be attached to the proximal end of a surgical instrument designed to be inserted into the body, and a calibration device that includes the second magnetic field sensor and an approach sensor. Field sensors generate corresponding location signals reacting to the magnetic field created by the generator and passing through field sensors. The device includes a control unit that receives signals from all sensors, determines corresponding location and orientation coordinates of field sensors based on signals, calculates a conversion rule of coordinates of the first sensor and the distal end of the instrument that is brought into a contact with the calibration device, and afterwards uses the conversion rule together with coordinates of the first sensor, when visually indicating the location of the distal end inside the body.
EFFECT: obtaining an otolaryngological instrument.
