SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical-pharmaceutical industry and can be used in drug quality control centres and analytical laboratories for quantitative determination of the amount of flavonoids in spreading marigold flowers (Tagetes patula L.). Method for quantitative determination of total flavonoids in flowers of spreading marigolds with preliminary production of water-alcohol extract from flowers of spreading marigolds by extraction of 1 g of accurate weighed amount of marigold flowers crushed to particle size of 2 mm rejected by ethyl alcohol in terms of a flavonoid substance by differential spectrophotometry, characterized by that the extraction of the raw material is carried out once for 30 minutes, extractant used is ethyl alcohol in concentration of 80 % in ratio of raw material-extractant - 1:100, quantitative determination of the sum of flavonoids in flowers of spreading marigold is carried out at wavelength of 434 nm in terms of quercetin and content of total flavonoids (X in percentage) in terms of quercetin and absolutely dry raw material is calculated by formula:

where D is the optical density of the test solution; Do is the optical density of the solution of the State standard sample of quercetin; m is weight of raw material, g; mo is the mass of the State standard sample of quercetin, g; W is weight loss during drying, %. In the absence of a standard quercetin sample, it is advisable to use the theoretical value of the specific absorption index at 434 nm - 789:

EFFECT: invention enables to develop a method for quantitative determination of the sum of flavonoids in spreading marigold flowers, having high specificity and accuracy.
