SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of seismic exploration and can be used in security and reconnaissance-alarm complexes and systems to detect signs characteristic of moving objects of ground equipment of any class in seismic vibrations of the surface layer of the soil. A method for detecting moving objects of ground equipment by a seismic signal is proposed, including registration of a seismic signal excited by a moving object of ground equipment. According to the claimed solution, a range of operating frequencies ΔF is selected, characteristic of seismic vibrations of the soil excited by objects of ground equipment of the “wheel” or “caterpillar” classes, dividing this general frequency range ΔF into two bands Δf1 and Δf2 so that in each of these bands, most of the energy of seismic vibrations from “its” class of ground equipment objects is concentrated. The deviation of the magnitude of the ratio of the energies of seismic vibrations in these frequency bands from the level provided by the balance of noise energies in these frequency bands is the main sign of the detection of objects of ground equipment.

EFFECT: increase in the probability of correct detection of mobile objects of ground equipment and a decrease in the probability of their false detection by increasing the stability of the functional characteristics of the device that implements the registration and processing of seismic vibrations coming to its input to a change in the level of external noise, interference or weather and climatic conditions.
