FIELD: testing equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of flaw detection of power transmission lines. According to the method, the damage site is determined by measurements of two devices installed at the ends of the power line. In each device, their phase currents or voltages are measured synchronously with another device, they are converted into a controlled signal and the moment of occurrence of the front of the first wave is determined in it. Through information transmission channels, information is received from another device about the moment of occurrence of the front of the first wave in its controlled signal and the duration of the interval between the moments of occurrence of the fronts of the first waves is determined. At the same time, an estimate of the moment of occurrence of the wave front reflected from the opposite end of the power line is determined in each device, and a time window is set relative to it, within which the wave front is detected and the moment of its occurrence is determined. Based on the mentioned moment of occurrence, the actual speed of wave propagation in the power transmission line is estimated.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the distance to the damage site.
