DNA is isolated from peripheral venous blood and genetic polymorphic variants are analyzed. An increased risk of having children with low body weight is predicted when the CG haplotype of the haploblock rs1671215 and rs1654439 of the RDH13 gene is detected.

EFFECT: invention provides obtaining criteria for assessing the risk of having children with low body weight in pregnant unrelated Russian individuals, natives of the Central Black Earth region of the Russian Federation, based on data on the rs1671215 and rs1654439 polymorphic loci of the RDH13 gene.
