FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to medical diagnostics, and can be used to predict the risk of developing low weight of newborns in unrelated Russian individuals, natives of the Central Chernozem region of the Russian Federation. DNA is isolated from peripheral venous blood. The polymorphic locus rs10496196 HK2, differentially expressed in the placenta, is analyzed. An increased risk of delivering babies with low body weight is predicted when the allele A of the polymorphic locus rs10496196 HK2 is detected.
EFFECT: method provides new criteria for assessing the risk of delivering low-birthweight babies in pregnant women of Russian nationality, natives of the Central Chernozem region of the Russian Federation, based on data on the polymorphic locus rs10496196 HK2.
