FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing and, in particular, to reconstruction of images/video from decoded image/video data. Parameters for reconstructing images from the decoded image data and from parameters obtained from the bitstream are determined, then in response to determining that the graphics or overlay are to be superimposed on the decoded image, selecting a recovery mode in accordance with information data indicating how said parameters are processed, and by applying the selected recovery mode, determining the restored parameters, which are used to reconstruct image data based on decoded image data and at least one reconstructed parameter, wherein said reconstruction comprises at least inverse display of brightness and colour correction.
EFFECT: adapting the dynamic range of the reconstructed signal in accordance with corresponding metadata, which may depend on characteristics of the target display, to eliminate flicker artefacts or undesirable effects.
