FIELD: image processing and encoding.
SUBSTANCE: invention is proposed to prevent image quality degradation when adapting HDR video to the characteristics of the end device. It is achieved by obtaining chrominance signal components representing the chrominance signal components of the output image from the colour components representing the input image, and if the pixel value in at least one of the said chrominance signal components exceeds this value, modifying the value of said pixel by at least in at least one of said colour components in such a way that the value of said pixel in at least one of said chrominance signal components is lower than or equal to said given value, and the modified value of said pixel in at least one of said colour components is introduced into the input image.
EFFECT: preventing image quality degradation when adapting HDR video to the characteristics of the end device.
