SUBSTANCE: area of application: detecting faults present in a wooden board. Substance of the invention consists in generating an image by capturing one side of a wooden board with a capture apparatus, simultaneously emitting visible light for the light reflected on one side of the wooden board from a light source for visible light and emitting invisible light for the light transmitted to the other side of the wooden board opposite to the one side from the light source for invisible light; and detecting multiple types of faults in the wooden board using an image processing apparatus to analyse the captured image generated by the capture apparatus, wherein the image processing apparatus recognises the multiple types of faults in the wooden board based on a set including at least shades and shapes in the image based on the invisible light transmitted through the wooden board and colours in the image based on the visible light reflected by the wooden board.
EFFECT: possibility of accurately detecting faults hard to detect based solely on the colour difference in an image in visible light.
