SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy, namely to a sheet of anisotropic electrical steel used as a material for iron cores of transformers. A sheet of anisotropic electrical steel contains a main steel sheet, an intermediate layer located in contact with the main steel sheet, and an insulating coating located in contact with the intermediate layer. The surface of the main steel sheet has grooves that run in a direction that intersects the rolling direction of the main steel sheet. In a cross-sectional view with a plane parallel to the rolling direction and the direction along the thickness of the main steel sheet, when the area between the end sections of the groove is defined as part of the groove, the average thickness of the intermediate layer of the groove part is multiplied by 0.5 or more and 3.0 or less than the average thickness of the intermediate layer outside the groove part, and the proportion of the area of voids in the insulating coating of the groove part is 15% or less.

EFFECT: reduction of magnetic losses and high adhesion of the insulating coating is ensured.
