FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. The stage of development of pellucid marginal corneal degeneration (PMCD) is determined based on the refractive indices of the eye, namely, the value of induced corneal astigmatism (IRA) is determined by ophthalmometry, and with IRA<5.0 diopters, stage I of PMCD development is determined. At IRA≥5.0 diopters and ≤10.0 diopters, stage II of PMCD development is determined. When IRA>10.0 diopters determine the III stage of development of PMCD.
EFFECT: method allows to objectively determine the stages of development of PMCD, timely improve treatment and diagnostic measures for patients with PMCD.
