FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of chemistry, namely, to methods for decomposition (disposal) of hydrogen sulphide for the purpose of producing hydrogen and elemental sulphur. Described is a method for low-temperature decomposition of hydrogen sulphide for producing hydrogen and gaseous diatomic sulphur in the presence of a catalyst based on transition metals or alloys thereof, sulphide systems of transition metals, massive and applied onto various carriers, selected from: (Fe,Ni,Cr,Ti)/SiO2, (Cu,Mo)/Sibunit, (Fe,Ni,Cr,P)/Al2O3, CuZnSx, Cu+Sn alloy, (Fe,Ni,Zn,B)/Sibunit, (Co,Mo,S,Cd)/Sibunit. In order to stabilise the active component, alloying additives of non-catalytic metals and/or non-metals are introduced into the catalyst. The process of decomposition of hydrogen sulphide is conducted at a temperature below 100°C.
