SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device (100) and a method for making a groove by forming a groove on the surface of an object using a laser beam. The light source device (11) outputs the laser beam, the polygonal mirror (10) reflects the laser beam coming out of the light source device (11). The optical system is placed in the optical path of the laser beam reflected from the polygonal mirror (10), and includes a concentrating part (13A), which transmits the laser beam reflected from one surface of the polygonal mirror (10) so that it is focused on the surface of the object , and a non-concentrating part (13B) which is provided outside the concentrating part (13A) and transmits the laser beam reflected from the corner part where two adjacent surfaces of the polygonal mirror (10) meet, so that it is not focused on the object surface.

EFFECT: providing a uniform groove finish and a uniform groove depth without contaminating the optical components.
