FIELD: measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a submersible device and a method for determining the position of an optical fiber in a shell using an submersible device. The submersible device (10) for measuring the temperature of the melt (64) of metal in the bath (62) of an electric arc furnace (60) with an optical fiber (50) in the shell contains a tuyere (28) for blowing to supply purge gas to the point of entry into the bath (62) and a detection device for determining the position of the optical fiber (50) in the shell. The optical fiber (50) in the shell is made with the possibility of moving in the feed channel (20) and/or in the tuyere (28) for blowing relative to the entry point. The detection device is designed to detect the presence of optical fiber (50) in the shell in the tuyere (28) for blowing or near it.
EFFECT: short distances are obtained between the leading end of the fiber and the melt and, consequently, short time intervals between the temperature measurement sequences.
