SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a measuring device for measuring temperature of a bath with molten metal, comprising an optical device, a detector, an optical device storage unit, a rotary support of the optical device storage unit, a movement means, a straightening means, a housing and a guide system connected to the housing. Housing contains a detection means, a storage unit of the optical device, a rotary support of the storage unit of the optical device, a movement means and a straightening means. Movement means is made with possibility of supply and retraction of the optical device and comprises at least one motor for forward and backward movement of the rotary support of the optical device storage unit and a supply means for supply of the optical device, driven by at least one motor for forward and backward movement. Invention also relates to a method involving the use of an appropriate measuring device for measuring the temperature of a molten metal bath.
EFFECT: high accuracy of results obtained by immersing the optical device with minimum friction and twisting thereof, as well as measuring using the optical device at a constant point on the surface of the bath with molten metal during repeated immersion cycles.
