FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the control of internal combustion engines equipped with a low pressure EGR system. The effect is achieved in that the control method includes, at a minimum, the following sequence of actions: control of the rotation speed and torque of the engine, in accordance with the rotation speed and torque of the engine according to the map of the EGR coefficient, determining and adjusting the degree of opening of the EGR valve; said EGR coefficient map includes several regions, each of which corresponds to a certain EGR coefficient, and said regions include region A - partial load region, and the EGR coefficient in said region A is 0.
EFFECT: improving the dynamic performance of an internal combustion engine equipped with a low pressure EGR system.
