FIELD: biosensor contamination determining.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining contamination of a biosensor in which the biosensor is loaded into a test meter and thereafter a sample is applied. The first and second predetermined test voltages are applied between the spaced electrodes of the biosensor for the respective first and second predetermined time intervals. The first and second current values are measured during the respective first and second predetermined time intervals. The first reference value is determined based on the sum of the first current values during the first predetermined time interval. The second reference value is determined based on the peak current value measured during the second predetermined time interval. The third reference value is determined based on the rate of change of the current values measured after the current peak during the second time interval. Based on one or more reference values, a contamination determination is performed. Reporting the analyte concentration in the sample can be suppressed based on the determination.
EFFECT: erroneous analyte measurements due to contamination of the biosensor are prevented.
