FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for the production of an aluminum-scandium (hereinafter – Al-Sc) alloy. The method for the production of Al-Sc alloy, providing for combination of metal-thermal and electrolytic reactions, includes provision of electrolyzer containing ScF3 and AlF3 and a portion of at least one of LiF, NaF, or KF, bringing a cathode containing aluminum into contact with electrolyzer, bringing an anode into contact with electrolyzer, wherein, for a metal-thermal reaction, a portion of Sc2O3 is added to electrolyzer, while aluminum ion and scandium ion react with the cathode to obtain Al-Sc alloy, and, for an electrolytic reaction, electric current is applied to the cathode, while aluminum ion and scandium ion react with the cathode to obtain Al-Sc alloy, after provision of the reaction of scandium ion with the cathode, electrolyzer contains ScF3, AlF3, and at least one of LiF, NaF, or KF, and the cathode contains the alloy.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improvement of a method for the production of Al-Sc alloy.
