FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a means for provision of safety of nuclear power plants (hereinafter – NPP); it can be used in severe accidents, which lead to the destruction of a reactor vessel of NPP. A case of a corium trap is made in the form of a volumetric geometrical shape containing two hollow thin-wall shells of material with high heat-conductivity, installed one into another with a radial gap and interconnected in a lower part to form an annular cavity with a profiled bottom for a melt from one side and open from the other side, interacting with cooling liquid with its outer walls and the bottom. In an upper part of the trap case, between shells, there is a channel for removal from its inner cavity of generated uncondensed gases and volatile radioactive substances. An output from the channel is located in the direct proximity from a base of a guiding plate. Above the upper part of the inner shell, from the side of a smaller radius, a channel is made for release of generated steam on a contact surface of the inner shell with cooling liquid. In an implementation option, in part of the case of the mentioned trap, from the side of the smaller radius, radial-meridional ribs of material with high heat-conductivity are made.
EFFECT: reduction in time of corium crystallization.
