FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to experimental medicine and can be used to simulate a malignant ischemic stroke in the middle cerebral artery basin. A median incision is made on the neck of an experimental animal, a rabbit. Ipsilateral dissection of the common carotid, external carotid, internal carotid and occipital arteries is performed. The common carotid and external carotid arteries are ligated at a distance of no more than 2 mm from the bifurcation site of the common carotid artery, after which the occipital artery is additionally ligated, and a temporary clip is applied to the internal carotid artery. Arteriotomy of the common carotid artery is performed at the site of its bifurcation. Through the performed arteriotomy of the common carotid artery, a monofilament is injected into the internal carotid artery. Simultaneously with the introduction of monofilament, a temporary clip is removed from the internal carotid artery. The monofilament is fixed by ligating the internal carotid artery, after which the wound is sutured.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to create a model with clinical signs that are as similar as possible to the clinical picture of malignant ischemic stroke in the MCA basin in patients.
