SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and equipment for encoding/decoding images. The result is achieved by the method for decoding images possibly including the stage of determining whether or not the prediction mode of the current block is an internal prediction mode, based on information related to the prediction mode of the current block; determining whether or not the mode is available based on intra-subpartitions (ISP) for the current block, when the prediction mode of the current block constitutes an internal prediction mode; decoding the ISP application indicator indicating whether or not the ISP should be applied to the current block when the ISP is available for the current block; and generating a prediction block for the current block by applying the ISP to the current block, if it was determined that the ISP should be applied to the current block, based on the ISP application indicator.
