SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and equipment for encoding/decoding images, and more specifically for encoding/decoding an image using intra prediction. A method for decoding images is proposed, comprising: determining whether or not to apply intra prediction to the current block of chrominance signals, based on information regarding the prediction of the current block of chrominance signals, extracting the intra prediction mode of the current block of chrominance signals based on the intra prediction mode of the corresponding block of luma signals, corresponding to the current chrominance signal block, and chrominance signal intra prediction mode information of the current chrominance signal block, when intra prediction is applied to the current chrominance signal block, and generating a prediction block of the current chrominance signal block by performing intra prediction based on the intra prediction mode of the current chrominance signal block. When the intra prediction mode of the corresponding luma block is not present, the intra prediction mode of the current chrominance block is derived based on the default intra prediction mode.
