SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol generating system containing separately activated heating elements. In particular, the present invention relates to an aerosol generating system containing a cartridge with separately activated heating elements. The proposed aerosol generating system contains a cartridge. The cartridge contains a heater assembly containing at least four separately activated heating elements located in group. Aerosol forming substrate is provided on each of heating elements. The system also contains an aerosol generating device made with the possibility of engagement with the cartridge. The aerosol generating device contains a power supply unit and a control circuit. The control circuit is made with the possibility of control of power supply from the power supply unit to each of heating elements to generate aerosol. The control circuit is made with the possibility of such sequential activation of heating elements, which eliminates activation of two heating elements located next to each other one after another.

EFFECT: inventions provide reduction in the probability of thermal decomposition of aerosol forming substrate.
