SUBSTANCE: invention relates to tobacco industry, namely to an aerosol generating system. The aerosol generating system contains a cartridge containing a cartridge case and solid aerosol forming substrate located inside the cartridge case. The aerosol generating system contains liquid aerosol forming substrate. The aerosol generating system includes an aerosol generating device containing a cavity for the placement of at least a part of the cartridge and an air flow inlet. The aerosol generating device contains an air flow sensor located between the air flow inlet and the specified cavity, wherein the air flow sensor is communicated via a fluid medium with the air flow inlet and the cavity. The aerosol generating device contains at least one bypass air inlet that is communicated via the fluid medium with the specified cavity. The aerosol generating device contains an electric heater made with the possibility of heating liquid aerosol forming substrate. The aerosol generating device contains a power supply unit and a controller made with the possibility of controlling the supply of electrical power from the power supply unit to the electric heater in response to a signal from the specified air flow sensor that indicates air flow passing through the specified air flow sensor. The aerosol generating system is made in such a way that the cartridge case prevents air flow passing through the bypass air inlet when placing the cartridge inside the cavity.
EFFECT: simplifying the structure of the aerosol generating system.
