FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, namely to synthesis of 5-hydroxy-1,3,6-trimethyluracil – an immune stimulator with a wide range of pharmacological activity. The method is carried out by oxidation of 6-methyluracil with ammonium persulfate in an alkaline medium at 40-70°C with subsequent cooling of a reaction mixture to a room temperature, processing of the resulting 6-methyuracil-5-ammonium sulfate with dimethyl sulfate in the alkaline medium at 85-95°C. Synthesis is carried out in one reactor without isolation of intermediate 6-methyuracil-5-ammonium sulfate. Oxidation of 6-methyluracil is carried out in the presence of 0.001-0.05 wt.% of a phthalocyanine oxidation catalyst selected from phthalocyanine of cobalt, iron (II), iron (III), manganese, nickel, zinc. Processing of intermediate 6-methyluracil-5-ammonium sulfate with dimethyl sulfate is carried out with pH of the medium of 9-10.
